Deborah Ancona
Seley Distinguished Professor of Management
Ancona’s pioneering research into how successful teams operate led directly to the concept of X-teams as a vehicle for driving innovation within large organizations. Her work also focuses on the concept of distributed leadership and the development of research-based models that enable organizations to foster creative leadership at every level.
She is the co-author of the book X-teams: How to Build Teams That Lead, Innovate, and Succeed and the related article, “In Praise of the Incomplete Leader.” Her previous book, Managing for the Future: Organizational Behavior and Processes, centers on the skills and processes needed in today’s diverse and changing organization.
Ancona also holds a BA and an MS in psychology from the University of Pennsylvania, and a PhD in management from Columbia University.
“It opened my eyes to a new leadership style that I can apply to my world, and hopefully improve our company's day-to-day decision making and processes. The online experience was very good. I think the videos were super powerful with strong testimonials. I enjoyed all of my classmates and their input and feedback were always one of collaboration and encouragement. Overall, this is a great program.”
