FACULTY DIRECTORS

Siqi Zheng

Faculty Director, MIT Center for Real Estate; Chair Professor of Urban and Real Estate Sustainability, and Department of Urban Studies and Planning

Siqi, an urban and environmental economics expert, specializes in urban and real estate sustainability research, including climate and real estate, sustainable cities, and self-sustaining urban economic growth. She publishes extensively in top peer-reviewed journals on these topics. At MIT, Professor Zheng is the faculty director of the MIT Center for Real Estate, where she runs the Sustainable Urbanization Lab, as well as the Climate and Real Estate Research Consortium (CRERC). She is also the co-editor of the Journal of Regional Science, and the 2nd vice president of the American Real Estate and Urban Economics Association (AREUEA).

Juan Palacios

Visiting Assistant Professor, Sustainable Urbanization Lab in the MIT Center for Real Estate

Juan is an assistant professor at Maastricht University and a visiting assistant professor at the MIT Center for Real Estate (CRE). His research focuses on environmental economics, sustainable real estate, and health economics. Juan is currently focusing on the effect of indoor air pollution on individual productivity and health.

Zhengzhen Tan

Lecturer, MIT Center for Real Estate

Zhengzhen specializes in real estate sustainability and digital innovation. She co-instructs the Sustainable Real Estate course for MIT’s Master of Science in Real Estate Development program and has co-founded three MIT research labs, including the China Future City Lab. She is an editor and co-author of Toward Urban Vibrancy and has also served as the director of Tsinghua-MIT Future City Innovation. Formerly an urban planner, Zhengzhen graduated from Shanghai’s Tongji University and the National University of Singapore.
